Protecting Personnel and Equipment
in the Central Office

The 508PMC is a front facing high density protector block designed for mounting on a conventional protector frame, but will mount on the vertical uprights of most open ironwork frames. The 508PMC is equipped with a hinged bracket for easy access to the OSP wire wrap pins on the rear of the block. The outside cable pairs are cabled to the block and a tie cable is used from the exchange side of the block to a separate distribution frame.

High Density Mounting
The 508PMC will terminate 100 pairs in 9 inches (22.8cm) of vertical space thereby providing double the capacity of AT&T 302 protector blocks. The unit is only 4 inches (10.2cm) wide and protrudes only 5.1 inches (12.9cm) from its mounting screws. The front facing unit is hinged op its mounting bracket to allow it to "swing open" to allow rear access for cable termination.

Variety of Protection
The 508PMC accepts single-pin protector modules. These include solid state, gas tube or Porta Systems' exclusive "radial" carbon with optional sneak current protection. Special purpose modules are also available.

Module Detent Feature
The protector modules may be partially extracted to a "detent" position. In this position the outside pair is disconnected from the outside exchange equipment; however, the modules continue to furnish protection

Universal Mounting
The block is equipped with a universal mounting bracket and will fit the hole mounting pattern on most frames. Adapter strips are available for special requirements.

Replaceable Pins
All wire wrap pins on the block are field replaceable.

Stubbing
The block is available with or without a factory pre-attached cable stub. Specify 22 or 24 AWG cable and length, up or down, or "none" when ordering.
